IMPORTANT EMAIL FROM NAACP!!!

Just a few weeks ago now, hundreds of thousands of supporters like you banded together to call for justice for the Jena 6. Because of our outcry, all eyes are on Jena.
These six young men still face prosecution by a DA who has taken it on himself to administer two systems of justice - one for blacks and one for whites. The legal battle there is clearly far from over, but the NAACP will be there all the way.

Click here to donate to the NAACP

And while the situation in Jena has captured the country's attention, it is by no means an isolated incident. The case reflects a disturbing national trend involving disparate, and often violent, treatment of African American youth in the criminal justice system.
In Tallahasee, Florida 14-year old Martin Lee Anderson died while in the custody at the Bay County Boot Camp last year. On October 12 an all white jury acquitted deputies and a nurse who participated in the videotaped violent abuse that resulted in his death...

...15- year old Shelwanda Riley was thrown around, punched and pepper sprayed by a Ft. Pierce, Florida police officer, a man roughly twice her size, as he tried to arrest her for a non-violent curfew violation...

...Isaiah Simmons, 17, died after struggling with five adult staff of the Bowling Brook Preparatory School, a privately run residential program under contract with the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services. Witnesses said the staffers sat on the boy's limbs, chest and head. He was then restrained for three hours. The state medical examiner ruled his death a homicide...

...Videotape showed Donovan Jackson-Chavis, 16, being slammed to the ground, tossed into the air, bounced on the hood of a squad car and choked by police as they handcuffed him for supposedly not dropping a bag of potato chips at a convenience store in Inglewood, California.
When the very people who are the caretakers of America's criminal justice system don't believe that all are equal under the law, it sends a message that racism and hate are acceptable. They are not.

With your support, the NAACP will aggressively pursue these and hundreds of other cases of police misconduct and discrimination targeting African American youth.

We are calling on local and state authorities as well as Congress to investigate these and other incidents of abuse, and the Attorney General to mandate federal prosecution of hate crimes.
This month NAACP units across the country are holding hearings, town hall meetings, rallies and marches in their own communities to demand that African American youth are treated with the dignity and fairness that they deserve under the law.
This wave of violence and intimidation against our youth is unacceptable, it's against the law and it must end now. With your help, we'll shine a light on those who hide their racist acts behind our criminal justice system.

Sincerely,
Dennis Courtland Hayes NAACP Interim President & CEO

The truth about Planned Parenthood and beyond!

A friend of mine gave me a DVD on Eugenics to watch. I was very surprised at the content and it led me to research what was said. It opened a can of worms. The people that really know me know I see conspiracies.

I thought women that use and have used Planned Parenthood should look this old non-profit closely.

First let me say, I am pro-choice. I believe each of us must make the choice using our religious upbringing, spirituality and morals to make decisions about birth control and abortions according.

The founder of Planned Parenthood was Margaret Sanger, which was formally called American Birth Control League. Sanger believed in Eugenics (the study of hereditary improvement of the human race by controlled selective breeding) meaning to create a healthier and intelligent people.

Did you know the Nazi regime in Germany used eugenics as a pretext for racial discrimination?

Sanger considered African Americans unfit and put a strain on American Society. In 1939, the reproduction practices of blacks became the target. When have we not been the guinea pig, take the Tuskegee Experiment. Now Sanger was not alone, Dr. Clarence J. Gamble of Proctor & Gamble devised the “Suggestion for the Negro project” plan.

Part of the plan was to use black leaders (giving the appearance they were in charge) so that no one would think they wanted to exterminate the Negro population. The selling point for birth control was for economic betterment and health measures. We were lured in by “birth control as a remedy for our economic woes by controlling family size. The program was endorsed by prominent black women of the day.

It is recorded that a black minister used a “softening process”, to gain the support of other churches to promote the agenda of PP. The entire black leadership, religious, social, professional and academic community had bought into the propaganda and finally endorsed Planned Parenthood. That made it ok for clinics to be placed in urban areas.

This story goes much further than just Planned Parenthood, but like any research it leads to another story.

So that we are all clear: EUGENICS IS ANTIDEMOCRATIC AND FUNDED BY THE RICHES FAMILIES IN AMERICA. Do I have to repeat that!

In those days the members of the American Eugenics Society were:
The Rockefellers, J. P. Morgan, Jr., Mary Biddle, a tobacco heiress, Cleveland H & Cleveland E. Dodge of Phelps Dodge Co, Robert Garrett, B&O Railroad, E. B. Scripps, United Press and Dorothy Brush of Brush Electric Co. to name a few.

Let me go a little further although the story is long.

Dr. Gamble didn’t stop at birth control pills. Let’s take a moment to talk about one family’s role in the game. The Gray Family, Mr Clayland Boyden Gray was counsel to George Bush, organized the pilot project for the sterilization program. Boyden’s father, Gordon founded the Bowman Gray Medical School in Winston-Salem using his R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co inherited cigarette stock. (Aunt) Alice Gray founded the “Human Betterment League” the North Carolina branch of the national eugenical sterilization movement.

Was that like the “Civil Rights” movement?

They began experiments on all children enrolled in the school district of Winston-Salem, NC. They were given an “intelligence test”; those who scored below a certain mark, which showed that they were insane or feebleminded and were surgically sterilized. My research found that the project was conducted by the University of North Carolina and financed by James Gordon Hanes (Hanes underwear) Do you think Michael Jordon knows? Twenty seven (27) states preformed sterilization programs.

Don’t take my word for it, look it up! Do it soon, it’s surprising to me what people will do. One thing is clear Eugenics is not a conspiracy; it is a movement and an ideology.

I have many thoughts about the condition of our people. The cares of the day pushes those thoughts in the background, I’m sad to say, until the next incident raises its head.

I have asked these questions many times. Did integration hurt us? Why do we mistrust each other in business and life in general? Those are not the only two questions…….I have many more.

I read somewhere that Black people have been the only people to come out of bondage and have not left the place of their captivity. I can only assume that our ancestors felt that they built the country and had rights to it. People like Marcus Garvey were destroyed by the FBI for his “Back to Africa” agenda. Through the years we built our own banks, hotels, restaurants etc. Blacks did business with each other because know one else would. Those businesses blossomed like Madam CJ Walker who not only created the products but employed other women to become an independent sales force. The cycle of money in Black Wall Street circulated over 100 times before it left the community. Jealous whites burned down.

WHEN we were ALLOWED to go in the front door of establishments, we did because we could. We should have left through the back door where we started. In 2007, we still give our hard earned dollars to others. In doing so, partly the cause, black owned businesses close at a rapid rate. Many of us complain about those businesses (shelves not full, not enough of something) but many of us don't offer any suggestions for improvement, we just go somewhere else. Other nationalities work for and with each other. Their fights with each other are behind closed doors – to the outside world, they become a united front. The cycle of money in their community circulates about 10-20 times while ours leaves our community in 15 minutes.

There is much debate over reparations. There are many of us that believe done are do. Opponents believe slavery was a legal institution so no crime was committed. We should forget about slavery and move on. Slavery is over and then who would receive payments since all the slaves are dead? Who are their descendants? No one wants to talk about slavery and the effects of it on our community. One example to learn about that subject is to pickup the book or DVD on Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome. It’s alright to never forget the Holocaust. We should never forget what has been done to us EITHER. Although we shouldn't get stuck there, we need to come to terms.....that THERE IS A PROBLEM! I don’t care who has made it out of the ghetto! Too many of us are still in the ghetto, stuck (what ever the reasons). Those who say I made it, you can too are full of it and brainwashed. Have something to add?

Marketing Tips

I’ve had numerous businesses throughout my lifetime. I considered each closing a failure and a learning experience. There’s something inside me that will not let me go of the dream of being self-employed. I have decided that while I’m waiting for my next try at self employment I would share with you what I have learned from each adventure.

Marketing and Networking:

Marketing is about communicating with clients about the value and distinct advantages that your business offers. Without communicating those customers do not know you exist. Understanding that you must communicate with your prospective and current clients are very important, how you communicate to them is even more important. It is about getting and keeping customers for life.

Remember your business name announces who you are. A memorable logo reestablishes your name and brand recognition. Use your logo on all your materials; website, boxes & bags, business card, postcards, brochures etc.

Keep in mind that you have to understand your customer’s needs and develop a plan around those needs. Do not copy what another business is doing without knowing what the results of their marketing plan produces. Market yourself. Test different strategies to see what works for you. Of course if it works, use it.

Develop a mailing list, by joining the Chamber of Commerce, collecting business cards and getting involved in community affairs. Review, develop and update your plan. Test what works. Results are the final determination of what works and what doesn't. Most small businesses have a limited marketing budget. That only means your have to think creatively and create a well rounded program.

Send a postcard with a good ad (brief) to your target market. If you decide to create a brochure team up with another business and include their card or insert and they agree to do the same for you. Enclose an ad or flyer in all your outgoing mail. And the internet is great way to communicate what your business does by considering an email newsletter sent to people who visit your website. Don’t forget to code your ads so that you can track the response or simply ask the customer how they hear about your business. Host events, (spoken word, book clubs etc), if it’s a seminar, (based on your space availability) limit attendance and charge a fee which will give the impression of value. Is there a concert in your area? Sell those tickets, or do outreach for a non profit in your area and distribute their material.
Testing will keep you in business longer because you will not continue to waste time with strategies that do not work.

Begin a file for merchandising (advertising) and marketing (networking) ideas and take some seminars and classes. Also develop a data base of customers.

You will know what works for your business by doing it yourself, testing it, and by making small improvements to it until it works consistently for you. Good luck!

PROCRASTINATION: ONE REASON WHY BLACK BUSINESSES FAIL

By Dante Lee

Columbus, OH (BlackNews.com) - According to the U.S. Census Bureau, African Americans are more likely to start a business - but are also more likely to fail at business than any other race. Let's address one common reason why many of our businesses don't survive: Procrastination.

Looking to kill your business? No problem, keep procrastinating. No one wants their business to go down the tubes, but procrastination is one of the most lethal ways to destroy a business from the inside out. Procrastination cuts off any possibility of success, even before you've taken on your first customer. It sucks the lifeblood from everything you hope to do by leaving you right there--in the valley of hopes and dreams--rather than on the mountain of action and results.
Not sure what some of the symptoms of procrastination are? Let's start with that client you promised to follow up with yesterday. Did you make the call? How about getting that business paperwork in order? Can you pull your taxes from three years ago within minutes? If not, then procrastination could be keeping you from fulfilling your promises, organizing your business and managing your finances to ensure your business is not pulled out from under you, by you.
Don't put off for tomorrow what you can do today. It is an old saying, but one worth repeating. Don't wait. If it is on your to-do list to be done today, then get it done. No excuses. One of the greatest talents of a procrastinator is the ability to create or latch onto seemingly legitimate excuses as to why this or that wasn't done. This technique is no different than a junkie who can't seem to put down the pipe.

Get up out of that slump and make your life happen. Customers are waiting and depending on you to give them the best service they've come to expect. Don't disappoint them and don't disappoint yourself. This is your business and it can only work if you work, today...not tomorrow, or next week, or next month. But today! Leave procrastination on the porch.
